ABOUT US | 关于我们

Rudy and Baoyan is a husband-and-wife team — an architect and entrepreneur who are passionate about what they do. Through their international commercial projects undertaken through their parent firm Genesis Architects, they take joy in honing their skills and bringing excellence and creativity to the table. In 2014, however, they had an encounter in Africa that shaped how they view and use their talents and craft thereafter. Going to Mozambique to live for a season with the poorest of the poor transformed their hearts and refined their focus to desire to not only achieve architectural distinction, but to do so in order to meet the vast needs of the marginalised and the vulnerable around the world.

What We Do

Living Oaks is a platform to raise awareness of the needs of the vulnerable around the world and share more about their ongoing projects to support them.

So far, some of the projects include building Africa's first oceanfront university in Mozambique: the first university in East Africa to have a full-fledged 75-hectare campus that allows students to pursue subjects such as marine biology and maritime studies, constructing 40 primary schools in war-torn Congo for over 300 children each, a school for blind children who have been abandoned and living under extreme poverty, and erecting an airstrip in an obscure village in Borneo, Indonesia to enable speedy medical evacuations for children living in orphanages and homes there. Beyond architectural expertise, they also run feeding, education, healthcare, employment and other sustainable programmes that have supported over 50,000 people in 10 nations.

In Ukraine, we’ve been a steadfast presence in the midst of one of the most devastating conflicts of our time. Since the war began, we’ve provided life-saving aid, rebuilt homes, and offered trauma care. We’ve delivered food to families in hiding, supported local churches, and equipped teams to care for the displaced.

Amid the destruction, we’ve witnessed extraordinary courage and resilience. This is not just relief work — it’s a movement of healing, restoration, and hope. Together with local partners, we’re not only rebuilding homes but lives, bringing light into places of darkness.

Living Oaks comes from the vision in Isaiah 61 — where brokenness is made whole, and ruins are restored. We are here to stand with those rebuilding, to see beauty rise from the ashes, and to show that even in the darkest times, hope never fades.

Rudy and Baoyan would love to connect with like-minded people who are passionate about what they do and scale up to do more, whether it is in terms of volunteers or other partnerships.

OUR VISION | 我们的异象

“他们必称为公义的橡树,是耶和华所栽的,叫他得荣耀。
他们必重建古老的废墟,修复历久荒凉之地,重建历代荒废之城。”

“They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor. They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations.”
